Campotosto Lake
The artificial lake of Campotosto, situated
in the province of L'Aquila, was created
in order to produce electrical energy
and is the largest lake in Abruzzo.
The ecosystem of the Reserve is favourable
to the permanence of migratory birds such
as the wind duck, the bald coot, and the
greater grebe. During the winter months,
it is characteristic of the Reserve to
see a high number of mallards and bald-coot.
