Nuraghe of Palmavera
You can find a lot of "nuraghi"
scattered all around Sardinia: they are
ancient cone-shaped buildings, used as
a defence, made of big squared stones.
The so-called Nuraghe of Palmavera is
different from the traditional nuraghi
because it is the result of consecutive
building stages from the year 1000 to
the eighth century.
The Nuraghe of Palmavera is only 11 Km
far from Alghero and lies near Spiaggia
delle Bombarde (Bombarde Beach). It is
formed by two towers: the central tower
is more ancient and dates back to the
fifteenth century B.C.; the outer tower,
which is equipped with a courtyard and
defensive walls, dates back to the eighth/seventh
century B.C. . Around the nuraghe you
can see round and square huts which formed
the village in the past.
