Typical
produce from Italy
Abruzzo has been for years a land of farmers and
shepherds, devoted to agriculture and cattle-breeding,
that's the reason why the typical produce of this
region is so numerous. It is genuine produce which,
though involved in the industialization in order
to get a better optimization of operation schedules,
is still today produced by a lot of families for
their needs. From salami and cold pork meats to
cheese, from fruit to vegetables, from unusual
cultivations (eg. saffron, spelt and truffle)
to oil, wines, spirits, pasta. In short, a wide
variety of produce which has kept its traditional
features on the whole, though some changes and
improvements have been made throughout the years.
The produce of Abruzzo always provides you with
what it promises to give you. |

Extra virgin olive oil
Colletorto, Montelongo and the entire village
of Montorio in Frentani are areas that are
extremely well known for their olive groves.
Over the centuries, olive cultivation in
the Molise region has become increasingly
specialized, adapting to the various territories
and characterized by different varieties:
Rosciola di Rotello, Gentile nostrana, Sperone
di gallo, and Ogliarola. Mentioned by Cicero,
Horace, Varro, and Pliny, the olive oil
of these areas enjoyed great prestige and
was used throughout a very widespread area
in the past. The discovery of pots and vases
at the excavations of Roman villas in the
Larino district and at other sites testifies
to the production and sale of local olive
oil even in ancient times.
